rites of passage ~ honouring ceremonies
rites of passage - what is it?
A Rite of Passage is marked by an event or change in one's life that is felt on a physical, emotional or spiritual level that signifies a transition from one phase of life into another. Every living being on earth moves through 2 Rites of Passage, birth and death. However, many more are felt throughout the human experience as we all transition through different challenges, roles and stages of growth.
Our ancestors honoured these sacred transitions through ceremony and ritual, their way of holding space for this depended on their traditions and culture. The meaning of these different rituals would allow the person to feel held, seen and connected to community and land. To be witnessed in their change, to be supported and acknowledged by their tribe, to bring healing and honour to the experience.
Instead our current cultural paradigm has forgotten Rites of Passage; men are no longer initiated into healthy manhood with their brothers, women are shamed for their menstruation, parents aren’t initiated with the support and wisdom of community into parenthood, menopausal women and no longer considered fertile and beautiful or valued in their eldership.
Holding ceremonies for Rites of Passage is about inviting us and our loved ones into community care, sharing our stories and wisdom together, creating healing and re-membering through these expansive, beautiful, and sometimes difficult changes along the road of life.

menarche ‘first moon’ ceremony
This is a ceremony honouring a young woman's Rite of Passage into becoming a Maiden through her Menarche (first menstruation).
It is a special time to gather her community of women; mother, friends, sisters, aunties, grandmothers and wise women. To create a supportive and positive experience for the young maiden in her initiation into womanhood, and for loved ones to pass on their wisdom around menstruation.
A ceremony crafted uniquely for you and your daughter filled with blessings, rituals and beauty.
maga ‘autumn queen’ ceremony
A ceremony and gathering of your closest women to witness and honour you in your transition into Maga, which is felt through the cessation of your menstrual cycle (menopause/perimenopause).
A beautiful ceremony filled with rituals to close this chapter of menstruation and open to the next cycle of womanhood with devotion, love and blessings.
Your sisters are gathered to witness and support you as you reclaim this Rite of Passage in positivity and empowerment and become the Autumn Queen.

mother blessing ceremony
A day ceremony full of rituals crafted by myself and dear friend Jessie (who is a mother and women's circle facilitator) in honour of the sacred passage of becoming a Mother. A day for you to do nothing but fully receive, be nurtured, held and witnessed in your metamorphosis as you let go of the Maiden and birth yourself into a Mother. To honour the role of Mother in our community and have your dearest women share their wisdom around Motherhood and call in support and blessings for your birth and postpartum.
The feeling of being seen and supported by your tribe of women is truly invaluable and is something that will carry you through your birth and beyond. This is also such a nourishing day for all the women in attendance as they get to fill their cup with feminine love and create deeper sisterhood connections.
Full day of celebration and rituals facilitated by Nic and Jessie.

closing of the bones

bridal blessing ceremony
A love filled ceremony witnessing you before the sacred union of your marriage. Honouring this powerful moment in one's life before you join family lineages and create a new family. Blessing the bride in her love and this next big chapter in life!
This is a beautiful ceremony gathering your women to bless your union, share their wisdom and celebrate you. Filled with rituals and a gorgeous altar surrounded by your circle of women, this day is about you, your love and blessing this next chapter of your life.
crone eldership ceremony
A very powerful ceremony witnessing the transition from Maga to Crone, the final cycle of the wheel of womanhood as a woman enters her Eldership. This ceremony is to honour the elder and the wise woman emerging into the community to be a pillar of support and sageness. A voice to be heard within the family and community who shares stories and wisdom with the young and old.
This special ceremony is crafted to celebrate the Crone and honour this vital role in society, gathering the women to bless and witness you as you enter this next Rite of Passage.

personal rite of passage ceremony
A uniquely crafted ceremony for you that witnesses you in this transformation in your life, honours you in your new skin and blesses your path forwards with love and blessings from your tribe. This may look like a name change, relationship break-up, changing career paths, the death of a loved one, birthing of a new self, the list can go on.
Rites of Passage can be felt through our bodies and wombs but also through a change in identity or self, breaking away from what was and walking a new path forwards, shedding skin and emerging in a new one. For a Rite of Passage to be fully integrated it requires the witnessing of community, and a very special way to do this is through ceremony. Being witnessed, honoured and celebrated in the change. This is a ceremony we can craft together for you and your unique journey.
